Millennium Falcon – Puzz3D Finished!!

July 25, 2009 5:30 pm

Remember this?

Pig Pig and my new puzzle

Yes Pig Pig was very excited about my new puzzle. After about a week of on and off, I had finished putting together all of the 2D panels.  It was definitely more difficult than any other puzzle I’d built before. However, the hard part hadn’t even started!!

Building the 3D component was way more difficult than I had anticipated. The round back and cylindrical middle and sides weren’t TOO terrible. I was able to get those together myself, although that alone was more difficult than previous puzzles’ construction. Getting in the two big front sides took a lot of patient and careful teamwork between me and Pooja.

Part of the key was in putting some objects under the ship for support so that the components didn’t slide out of their spots. Here’s what it looked like after we lifted it off.

Creative, huh?  You can see the cardboard stand that comes with the puzzle to the right side.  I don’t actually think it supports it very well, but perhaps it can work.  Instead of using that, we got some metal wire to hang it from the ceiling!

Here it is, enjoy!!

There it is mounted!

Happy Birthday Glenn!

July 17, 2009 8:52 pm

Glenn turned an OLD 24 years of age on July 11th, last Saturday. Whoopeee!!

In celebration, Glenn received plenty of fun presents including a super challenging 3D puzzle of the millennium falcon from star wars from his adoring wife (that’s me!)

Also, my dad sent us to brunch at our very favorite breakfast spot, Bluephies. Glenn had a tasty fresh berry french toast and a ginormous blueberry muffin. I had a mango mimosa and crab cake benedict. Yum!

We also got some special mickey-shaped chicken nuggets!! Okay so they don’t look THAT mickey-shaped, but we couldn’t resist a Disney-themed snacktime.

Finally, in the evening we hung out at Essenhaus, a German restaurant that serves beer in 2-liter boots (woohoo!). Our friend Jen bought Glenn a very tasty slice of chocolate cake.

All in all, I think we had a pretty awesome day. Happy Birthday babe!

Happy Anniversary!

1:05 pm

Okay so I’m a little behind, but here’s my attempt at catching up.

Glenn and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary on 7/05/09! We got many calls and cards, prayers and wishes from friends and family across the world. We celebrated with a fancy dinner at a local restaurant and a couples massage at a spa. I’ll post some pictures of that in a later edit. Right now I want to write about what reminds me to write this post!

Our friend Morgan graciously offered to take anniversary photos for us and she shot us around Madison yesterday evening. She already has a fabulously cute post and I thought you all should see/read/enjoy 🙂
